Resolution

1. Delete the following program folders if they were created during the program installation:
   • C:\temp\FR16
   • C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\FineReader\16
   • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\ABBYY\FineReader\16
   • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\16
   • C:\Program Files\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader\16
   • C:\Program Files\ABBYY FineReader 16
     ProgramData and AppData folders can be hidden.
2. Temporarily deactivate any antivirus software and registry cleaners installed on the computer.
3. Download the distribution kit of the latest version of the application
4. Run the downloaded installation file. 
   • Ensure the files were extracted to C:\temp\FR16. 
   • Do not start the installation.
5. Go to C:\temp\FR16\Bin\External Components\VC_Redist.
   • Preinstall Visual C++ Redistributable: for a 64-bit system.
   • Run vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe in any order.
6. After the components have been successfully installed, go to C:\temp\FR16. 
   • Run Setup.exe. 
   • Complete the installation.
