Using both versions of the FineReader PDF after the upgrade

Question

Is it possible to use both versions of FineReader PDF (FineReader PDF 15 and FineReader PDF 16) after the upgrade?

Answer

It is possible to use the FineReader PDF 15 program on the same computer(s) according to the End-User License Agreement (EULA) of FineReader PDF 16:

6.1.1. The software that formed the basis for Your eligibility for the Upgrade (Upgrade Basis Software) can be used after upgrade only on the same Computer in compliance with the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement supplied with the Upgrade Basis Software, unless otherwise specified in a separate written agreement for Upgrade with ABBYY.

    Dear Anna,

Is it possible to install FineReader PDF 16 in parallel to an older (box or abo) version on the same PC, so that both can work? (Not at the same time, of course).

Participants of my webinars will be asking, if it would be possible to return to their old version (15 or even 14), should version 16 not correspond to their demands.

    Thanks for your reply!

    Hi Christine,

Yes, it is possible to install both versions of the product on one PC. But in case the license was purchased as an upgrade - you cannot reinstall the old one from the PC where it was originally installed before the upgrade. Please contact our Customer support team if you (or your customers) need help with checking the information for a specific license.

    Hi, Victoria,

Thank you for your quick reply, it's "just in time"  before my webinar tomorrow.

So, when a user purchases FR 16 as an upgrade based on an existing version FR 15, he can't go back to version 15 afterwards, because the installation of FR 15 is somehow "used" for the upgrade and hereby changed.

But if version 16 is bought completely new (as an independent abo version), then it is possible to use both versions and compare them. Correct?

I will recommend to contact the customer support team and do so myself, too.

    Good night,

    Christine

    Thank you, Victoria!

So I'll purchase FineReader PDF 16.

Knowing the differences between Standard and Corporate versions, I just have to take the version decision!

    Have a good day,

    Christine
