Symptoms
When the License Manager is launched, the following message appears:
You do not have permission to manage licenses on the license server SERVERNAME.
Cause
The user does not have sufficient rights to manage licenses in License Manager.
Resolution
To manage licenses on the License Server, a user has to be in one of two local groups on the License Server:
- ABBYY Licensing Administrators
- BUILTIN\Administrators
It is also possible to disable user authorization during the launch to avoid this issue. To disable user authorization, please edit the NetworkLicenseServer.ini file. This file is located on the computer where the License Server has been installed in the following folder:
For FineReader PDF 16:
%programfiles%\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader\16\Licensing
For FineReader PDF 15:
- for 64-bit operating systems: %programfiles(x86)%\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader (or PDFTransformer)\<version number>\Licensing
- for 32-bit operating systems: %programfiles%\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader (or PDFTransformer)\<version number>\Licensing.
Open the file and add the following parameter to this file:
[Licensing]
EnableManagerAuthorization = false
For the changes to take effect, restart the ABBYY FineReader PDF (version) Licensing Service (Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Services > ABBYY FineReader Licensing Service > Restart).
