Symptoms

  • “Error when installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 redistribute (x86) - 14.32.31326 component: 1638” error message occurs during installation of FineReader PDF 16 on a workstation running Windows portion of a Mac (Windows 11) via Parallels. 

Cause

  • The component was not installed automatically.

Resolution

  • Use Windows Installer to install the ABBYY FineReader PDF x64.msi file from the folder containing the setup files.
    • The default folder location is C:\temp\FR16\Bin.
