Creating a PDF using Microsoft Print to PDF printer

Question

How to create a PDF file from editable document formats (such as DOCX, XLSX, HTML, TXT, etc.) when there is no Microsoft Office or LibreOffice installed on the computer to enable FineReader PDF to create PDFs out of these formats

Answer

If there is Microsoft Office or LibreOffice installed on the computer, please use the FineReader PDF's Create PDF or Convert to PDF options to convert supported editable formats into PDF format.
Find the instruction in the following article - Creating a PDF file from editable document formats with FineReader PDF.

If there is no Microsoft Office or LibreOffice installed on the computer, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open the file to be printed in any application that can open it.
  2. Find the Print option.
  3. Select Microsoft Print to PDF printer from the list of available printers.
  4. Apply other settings (if needed) and click on the Print button.
  5. Select the path for saving the print output (PDF), type the name for the file, and click on the Save button.

Additional information

After selecting the Microsoft Print to PDF printer once, it will be used by default (if no changes are applied). To fasten the process, skip opening the file in the corresponding application. Instead of this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click the file to be printed to PDF.
  2. Click on the Print option.

  3. Select the path for saving the print output (PDF), type the name for the file, and click on the Save button.

I use the virtual printer from Thunderbird more that any other application. Why is it gone?
When will it be back? I'm not very happy about having two versions of FineReader PDF on my computer when one would do!
