"The serial number is already in use" message appears when reactivating the subscription license

Symptoms

After the subscription renewal, not all the features of FineReader PDF are accessible. When trying to reactivate the serial number of the subscription, the error message appears:

The serial number is already in use.

Cause

The license parameters were not updated on the machine automatically. Developers are aware of the issue and are working on the fix.

Resolution

To fix the issue, please update the license manually as follows: 

  1. In FineReader PDF, go to the Help > About > License Info.
  2. Select the license and click the Update... button:
  3. Complete the update via the Internet.
