How does JavaScript work in Finereader PDF?

Answer

FineReader PDF uses the Google JavaScript engine V8 for script processing. FineReader PDF can process embedded scripts, but the creation of our own scripts is not supported.

Please take a look at the Adobe API. The functions described here should work in FineReader PDF as well: Acrobat JavaScript API Reference
