How to save user patterns and languages created in FineReader PDF 15 and load them to FineReader PDF 16

Question

How to save user patterns and languages created in FineReader PDF 15 and load them to FineReader PDF 16, when switching to the FineReader PDF 16 program version?

Answer

User patterns and languages can be saved to a file in FineReader PDF 15 as follows:

  1. In the opened OCR project, open the OCR tab of the Options dialog box (click Tools > Options... to open this dialog box).
  2. Click the Save Patterns and Languages....
  3. In the dialog box that opens, type a name for a file and click Save.

This file will contain the path to the folder where the user languages, language groups, dictionaries, and patterns are stored.

To load patterns and languages in FineReader PDF 16, please follow the steps:

  1. Open the OCR tab of the Options dialog box (click Tools > Options... to open this dialog box).
  2. Click the Load Patterns and Languages....
  3. In the Load Options dialog box, select the required *.fbt/*.fbtx file and click Open.

A pattern can only be used for documents that have the same font, font size, and resolution as the document used to create the pattern.

Please note that when an OCR project is saved, not only the page images and recognized text are saved, but also any patterns and languages you created while working on the project are saved in this OCR project.
