Symptoms

Opening the OCR Project in FineReader PDF fails with the error:

<FileName> contains an invalid path.

Cause

The error message appears when the path to a file that needs to be opened exceeds the maximum allowed length in Windows. The length of the path should not exceed 256 symbols. 

Resolution

To resolve the issue, please follow the steps below:

1. Copy the address that is causing the error into the address bar of Windows Explorer.
2. Take the file from the temporary folder.

It is recommended to use shorter file names to avoid this kind of situation.
