Symptoms

When opening Finereader PDF 16 on the workstation the following errors occur:

"ERR_EN_SER_PARSE_XML_SOLID"

and

"ERR_EN_SER_LOAD_MISSED"  

Cause

The errors are caused by the corrupted XML file:  %AppData%\ABBYY\FineReader\16\fineUI.CommonSettings.xml.

Resolution

The issue will be fixed in FR16 R4. 

As a temporary solution please remove the file %AppData%\ABBYY\FineReader\16\fineUI.CommonSettings.xml

Otherwise, the application should be reinstalled using the latest build (note that PDF X-Change virtual printer component has been removed. For more details, see this article):
