Symptoms

When installing FineReader PDF 16 there is an error message: "The installation was interrupted before ABBYY FineReader could be installed.
One or more errors have occurred when installing the program. Please contact our technical support service. A detailed description of the error can be found below:
An error occurred while acquiring or verifying the package: FineReader".

Cause

The cause of the error is not clear yet. 

Resolution

Try another installation method using the command line and *.msi file. To install FineReader PDF using Windows Installer, run the following command from a Command Prompt:
msiexec.exe /i "%pathtofile%" /qb
where %pathtofile% is the path to the ABBYY FineReader 16 x64.msi file for 64-bit systems that is located in the folder (C:\temp\FR16\Bin).

If the distribution kit was unpacked to the default C:\temp\FR16 folder, the command will be the following:
msiexec.exe /i "C:\temp\FR16\Bin\ABBYY FineReader PDF x64.msi" /qb
 
To run the command from Command Prompt:

  1. Go to Windows start panel and type Command Prompt.
  2. Right-click on the app and choose Run as Administrator.
  3. Paste this path: 
    msiexec.exe /i "C:\temp\FR16\Bin\ABBYY FineReader PDF x64.msi" /qb 
    and hit Enter.
