Symptoms

Termination of installation of FineReader Engine 11 software. The following message appears:

"There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action Launch_regsvr32_FREngine.dll.x64.location : C:Windows\system32\, command: regsvr32.exe /s/n/i.:"C:\Program Files\...\FREngine.dll""

Cause

The error occurs due to the lack of rights to register FREngine.dll during the installation process if the .msi file is run with reduced rights by default.

Resolution

Try running the installation using the Setup.exe file. When you run this file, a dialogue appears asking for administrator rights and the installation should complete successfully.
If you need to run the installation using ABBYY FineReader Engine 11 (64 bit).msi, then you need to do it with the appropriate rights.
For example, open cmd.exe with the "Run as administrator" command and run the installation with the following command:

msiexec.exe /i installer.msi
