How to install FineReader PDF when the License Server and workstations are located in different subnets

FineReader PDF can be installed and used in a local area network (meaning all workstations and server are in the same network).

If the License Server and the workstations are located in different subnets, a TCP/IP connection must be configured.

Prerequisites

  • You have admin access to your computer

Steps

On the computer where the License Server is installed, perform the following steps:

  1. Make the appropriate changes to the connection protocol and the connection port settings in the Licensing.ini file
  2. Copy the file to the administrative installation point.
  3. Ensure that the computer with the License Server is accessible from all workstations all the time:
Note: the License Server should be accessible all the time for Concurrent and Remote User license types. For Per Seat licenses, it should be accessible during the installation.
    1. On the computer with ABBYY FineReader License Server installed, create a shared folder (e.g. "Test").
    2. On a workstation, press Windows+E to open a Windows Explorer window.
    3. Type \\SERVERNAME in the address bar and press Enter
    4. Try to open the "Test" folder.
    5. (for Concurrent and Remote User license types; for Per Seat licenses - during the installation).
