Set Adobe Acrobat as the default program to preview PDF attachments in MS Outlook

How to set Adobe Acrobat as the default PDF Preview Handler for reviewing attachments in MS Outlook while FineReader PDF is set as the default document viewer? 

Answer 

To use the Adobe Acrobat PDF Preview Handler as the default for previewing attachments in MS Outlook, please follow the steps below:

  1. Start MS Outlook. Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Centre Settings > Attachment Handling > Attachment and Document Previewers...
  2. Untick FineReader PDF and make sure that PDF Preview Handler is selected, then click OK > OK (as per the screenshot below):

3. Close MS Outlook.

4. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

5. Find Adobe Acrobat Reader in the list of installed programs. Right-click the Adobe Acrobat Reader and select Change > Repair.

6. After the repair process has been completed, start MS Outlook and preview an attachment.
