FineReader Engine 12 installation fails with error: An error occurred while installing or initializing the package CodeMeterRuntime

Symptoms

The FineReader Engine 12 installation fails on Windows 11 with the following error message:

An error occurred while installing or initializing the package CodeMeterRuntime

Cause

The CodeMeter cannot be properly installed during the FineReader Engine 12 installation.

Resolution

If the hardware license (USB dongle (hardware key) that contains the license parameters) is not used to activate the software, please try disabling the Wibu Drivers (CodeMeter) installation.

Please note, that Windows 11 is not referred in the OS requirements in the FineReader Engine 12 Specifications, and therefore, we cannot guarantee the product's proper work when the mentioned OS is used.
