Symptoms

Advanced Designer update fails with the error:

Value cannot be null

Cause

Previous Advanced Designer settings are interfering with the new version installation.

Resolution

1. Uninstall all Advanced Designer versions listed in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features.
2. Rename (or remove) the %localappdata%\ABBYY\AD folder.
3. Install the latest Advanced Designer version again.
