FineReader PDF error: Failed to load DLL ole32.dll. Unknown error. Error code: 0xc1

Symptoms 

When scanning with the Fujitsu ScanSnap Home program to FineReader PDF (How to use Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner with FineReader PDF), the following error messages appear:
Failed to load DLL ole32.dll. Unknown error. Error code: 0xc1
and
Unhandled Internal Error

Cause

The old version of the ScanSnap Home program is installed on the computer.

Resolution

Please reinstall the ScanSnap Home program.

The distribution kit for the ScanSnap Home program can be found on the official Fujitsu (now Ricoh) website: Select the scanner model and operating system, click on Display software list and download ScanSnap Home.

After the reinstallation, please apply the needed settings for scanning to FineReader PDF: How to use Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner with FineReader PDF.

If the issue persists after following the steps above, please submit a request.
