After following the steps described in System Administrator`s Guide for protocol change to TCP\IP there is still an error: The RPC server is unavailable.
In order to fix the issue, please use the instruction below to change to protocol type to TCP/IP:
- Install Server and License Manager.
- On the Server open the file %programfiles%\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader\14.00\Licensing\Licensing.ini and enable here TCP/IP protocol and 81 port:
[Licensing]
ConnectionProtocolType=TCP\IP
ConnectionEndpointName=81 - Open the file %programfiles%\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader\14.00\Licensing\NetworkLicenseServer.ini and enable here TCP/IP protocol and 81 port:
[Licensing]
NetworkServer=yes
EnableManagerAuthorization=false
ConnectionProtocolType=TCP\IP
ConnectionEndpointName=81 - Copy the file Licensing.ini with the changes to %programfiles%\ABBYY FineReader 14 License Server.
- Restart ABBYY FineReader 14 Licensing Service to apply changes.
- Launch License Manager and activate licenses.
- Create an Administrative point (e.g. \\shared files\FR14).
- Copy updated Licensing.ini and NetworkLicenseServer.ini to a subfolder ABBYY FineReader 14 in Administrative point folder (where the executable FineReader.exe is located, e.g. \\shared files\FR14\ABBYY FineReader 14).
- Install FineReader on workstations via Setup.exe from Administrative point.
- Open 81 port on Server.
NOTE: If you have one machine used as a server for two different FineReader versions you need to use different ports for every FineReader version.
Instructions for FineReader 15 are published in our online Help.
