    Hello tebcom,

I suppose the article can be not relevant for some versions of macOS. Also note that for the current version - FineReader PDF for Mac Automator is not supported at the moment.

Please inform me what version of the product do you have and what macOS is installed on your mac.

    Dear Victoria,

On my Macbookpro 2016 Big Sur 11.6 i just updated FineReaderPro to Finereader PDF. (after FineReaderPro didn't fit my needs 5 years ago now i wanted to give it a try if it now works for me now)

My goal is to have a "Hotfolder"- Solution on the Mac as you have it in AbbyFineReader 15 Corporate on Windows - which i like very much because it is completely invisible and working in the background - and because your OCR-engine is really great !! -

That's why i really don't understand, why you don't have this on the Mac-Version since 5 Years. You have the knowledge...so why don't you do it on the Mac as in Windows? (and not over Automator...)

Back to the topic: That means Automator and AppleScript doesn't work accually on V15.1.0.?Well, that means i bought the upgrade - at the moment - for nothing...

    Hope i'm wrong...;-)

    Best Regards

    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

We are constantly updating and improving FineReader PDF products. We are considering the feature of batch/scheduled conversion for realization in the future releases of FineReader PDF for Mac. Concerning this, we would really appreciate it if we could talk to you and ask you several questions about your needs and expectations for such a feature. Please let us know if you are ready to have a half an hour call with our Product Manager – we’ll then reach to you to set up the call.

Anyway, buying a license now allows you not only to use all the features available at the moment, but to get product version updates in the future, with new features and other improvements that we’re constantly developing and adding to the product.

Hi, like Thomas, I would also like to batch OCR PDFs from an input folder to an output folder. ABBYY FineReader PDF for Mac certainly has a good OCR engine and one-off conversions are perfect but I can't make use of it for my purpose without the ability to do batch conversions. Whether this is built-in or through the Automator doesn't really matter, although a built-in solution that runs in the background would be ideal.

I've contacted support but they don't seem to understand the problem.

    Hello DK,

At the moment FineReader PDF does not support Automator actions and the previous possibility of multiple file conversion (which was supported in FineReader Pro) is not available in the product.

I greatly appreciate your feedback in this comment and will forward it to FineReader Product Manager.

Please await also additional comments in the support ticket.
