Failed to run license. License allows only local usage.

Error message “Failed to run license <Serial Number>. License allows only local usage.” can occur if you use a local license, and during installation, you have specified a Network License Server. Please note that Network License Server is not needed for a local license.

Replace the text in LicensingSettings.xml in Bin subfolder of FineReader Engine installation folder with the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16" ?>
 <LicensingSettings xmlns="http://www.abbyy.com/Protection/LicensingSettings" />

Restart ABBYY FineReader Engine 12 Licensing Service (in Windows go to "Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Services, right-click ABBYY FineReader Engine 12 → Licensing Service" and choose Restart in the context menu).

If the issue has not been solved, please provide the technical support (support contacts are in support locator) with the following information:

1) How have you performed the installation of FineReader Engine on your production physical server?

  • By clicking “setup.exe” or “ABBYY FineReader Engine {NN}.msi”.
  • Automatically via command-line.
  • Manually by copying necessary files.

2) Please generate AInfo report on your production physical server:

  • Go to Bin subfolder of FineReader Engine installation folder. By default it is C:\Program Files\ABBYY SDK\12\FineReader Engine (or C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY SDK\12\FineReader Engine in case of 64-bit Windows).
  • In Bin subfolder please find Support folder.
  • Please run “AInfo.exe” utility from \Support folder and click “Save…” button.
  • Please send the generated ZIP archive with AInfo report to us.
