Common installation issues

In case that installation of ABBYY FineReader Engine or ABBYY FlexiCapture Engine fails, the installer writes log files. The installation issues are written in this log. Common issues are:

  • insufficient access rights for the installation;
  • conflict with viral or anti-viral software;
  • missing Windows update
  • customer run .msi file instead of "setup.exe"
  • not enough space on disk
  • the installer is run on misconfigured Citrix terminal (temp files issue)

 

Where to find the installation log

FineReader Engine 12

  1. The ABBYYMsiLog.txt installation log. It can be found in the %temp% folder. To open the %temp% folder insert %temp% in Windows Explorer address field and press Enter;
  2. The ABBYY FineReader Engine 12.log installation log. This log first appears in the %temp% folder. Then, if the installation was successful, it is moved to the installation folder. If the installation failed it remains in the %temp% folder.

FlexiCapture Engine 12 

  1. The ABBYYMsiLog.txt installation log. It can be found in the %temp% folder. To open the %temp% folder insert %temp% in Windows Explorer address field and press Enter;
  2. The ABBYY FlexiCapture Engine 12.log installation log. This log first appears in the %temp% folder. Then, if the installation was successful, it is moved to the installation folder. If the installation failed it remains in the %temp% folder.

Note: %temp% folder is a system environment variable. In order to open temp folder, please paste string %temp% into Windows Explorer address string.
