Patterns. How to upload Pattern (*fbt *ptn) to FC/FLS

Patterns can be used to improve the recognition of specific characters. Patterns can be trained in ABBYY FineReader 12, 14, 15 or in ABBYY FineReader Server 14 and then applied to ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 projects.

Extended Recognition with custom trained pattern can be used for:

  • texts set in decorative fonts
  • texts containing unusual characters (e.g. mathematical symbols)
  • long documents of low print quality (more than a hundred pages)

Patterns are only useful when the documents have:

  • the same font,
  • the same font size, and
  • the same resolution as the document used to create the user pattern.
  • Pattern training is not supported for hieroglyphic or Asian languages.

To upload Pattern (*fbt *ptn):

1. To load a pattern into ABBYY FlexiCapture, open the recognition properties of a text field, and in the Advanced section click Modify… > Use pattern and select an *.fbt or *ptn file.

2. To load a pattern into ABBYY FlexiLayout Studio, open the FlexiLayout properties of a text field, and in the General section click Advance Pre-recognition Properties...>Advanced > Use pattern and select an  *ptn file.
