Subquery returned more than 1 value while opening FC12 Project Setup Station/Verification Station

Symptoms

"Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression, in method {? = call User_Find(?, ?)}" may appear while reaching a size limit of 10 GB for MS SQL Server Express

Cause

Most probably, there have been created duplicates for one or several User Accounts in dbo.Principal.

Resolution

1. Check dbo.Principal e.g. via the SQL Server Management Studio and disable/remove the one with a bigger number of ID (it confirms that it has been created later).

To remove, you can execute next query:

Delete entries from dbo.Principal where Id=X; (X stands for a bigger number of ID)

2. Try to access the project via Project Setup Station.
