Prerequisites 

  • You have admin access to the computer
  • You have FineReader PDF 15 (or earlier) installed on the computer
How to completely remove FineReader PDF 16 for Windows

Steps

  1. Uninstall the program using the standard Windows method:
    1. Click the Start menu. 
    2. Type Control Panel in the search field and click to open it from the results.
    3. In the Control Panel, select Programs > Programs and Features.
    4. Right-click the ABBYY FineReader PDF version to uninstall.
    5. Select Uninstall.
  2. Delete the following program folders (if these folders still exist on the computer):
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader <version>
    • C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\FineReader<version>
    • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\ABBYY\FineReader\<version>
    • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\<version>
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader\<version>
    • C:\temp\FR<version>

Note: The ProgramData and AppData folders may be hidden.
