How Hot Folder understands what files have been processed?

Question

How Hot Folder understands what files have been processed? Will it process all files from the input folder or only newly added?

Answer

Hot Folder is a scheduling agent that allows you to select a folder with files that ABBYY FineReader should process automatically.

The following parameters are used to determine if the file in the input folder should be processed:

  • File name
  • Format (extension)
  • Last modification date (Modified in file properties)

Hot Folder keeps the information about already processed documents, so they won't be processed again. The information about already processed files is kept here: %localappdata%\ABBYY\FineReader\15\HotFolder\%taskname%.ppi

In case you process files with identical names but with different modification dates these files will be processed.
