How do we (i.e. those who have already purchased the software) update our FineReaders already installed on our machines? Thank you!

Sorry, I want to make sure, whether the user of the version 12.1.14 really have to pay another 84.99 USD for this "upgrade"?

We've all paid already for the FineReader OCR Pro (12.1.4), but we can't use it since last year and after waiting for such a long time, we haven't got any solution, only being asked to pay extra for upgrade. I do think that the users should pay more, when the company keep developing the software, but it's only under the circumstance, when the users have their own choice, whether they want to or not. Now we still can't use the  version we have bought and it seems that the only way for us is to pay more for the upgrade. I don't think it's fair for us, who has already paid once.

ABBYY should at least fix the old version (12.1.14).

I appreciate all the help you've gave us in this community, but I think ABBYY owes us an explanation.

    hello Victoria,

    I wonder three questions about:

    1. in what the App Store version is different from our retail version?

    2. how can we buy the app version without pay again for it?

    3. can we install the App Store version over the retail?

    Thank you!

    Salvo

    Hello,

FineReader Pro is a previous version of the software, and, unfortunately, it wasn't possible to adapt it to be compatible with the next generation of macOS. To ensure the compatibility and further evolution of FineReader for Mac computers, the new version, FineReader PDF for Mac, has been developed. We continue working on new FineReader PDF for Mac for expanding its capabilities and improving its overall quality in its further releases.

According to ABBYY's licensing and pricing policy for FineReader PDF products, an upgrade to the current major version from the previous one is made on a paid basis. If you consider the standard upgrade conditions provided for the software not acceptable for you, please contact us individually by opening a support ticket. We will consider your situation and try to find an acceptable solution.

Got this back in December from ABBYY Support -

"As soon as the new version of FineReader for Mac that supports Big Sur is officially released we will certainly inform you about that and offer special conditions for upgrading your software, which conditions, we believe, will be able to compensate for the inconvenience caused by the current situation."

$85 upgrade doesn't seem like "compensate for the inconvenience caused by the current situation."

Maybe $49 would be more inline for this particular situation. As with many other software vendors, Abbyy had the opportunity to adjust the existing version with Big Sur then offer an upgrade to something new for those who choose to do so or allow others to continue to use the older version and apparently chose not to upgrade?

Hello. I am seeing that this new ABBYY version for MAC is not keeping the document's layout once exported. For example, I export it to a Word file, and the page size changes, the font size changes, etc...It's very annoying because I have to waste my time editing the document from scratch once exported. It wasn't like this with the old good version.

Also, with the old version, we would copy and paste segments (and tables) from ABBYY...now, when I do that, I get the strange LSEP symbol.

Please, help because this makes me waste precious time that I need for other tasks.

    Hello.

I decided to buy the new version, although I think it's really expensive in fact of the old version isn't working at all and we already payed for that.

And now it seems to be rather a down- than an upgrade. You didn't fix the problems regarding manually selecting areas, you just disabled many functions in general (f. e. cutting selected Areas) . Is there any chance, this will be included again in future? The Windows version seems to be so much more packed with features and I really don't want to pay for another license....

You took away the ability to edit images in the "new" version. ABBYY made an inferior product to the Windows version even worse. This is a deal breaker.
