How to disable the splash screen for FineReader PDF?

Answer

On program launch 

To disable the splash screen that appears on the program launch, please follow the next steps: 

  1. Right-click the FineReader PDF icon and select Properties, go to the Shortcut tab.
  2. In the Target field, change the value from Shortcut to NoSplash

  3. Click Apply and OK.

For opening a PDF file

To disable the splash screen that appears when opening a PDF file with a double click or via the context menu Open, please follow the steps below:

  1. Launch Registry Editor: press Windows + S on the keyboard, type regedit in the search field and right-click the Registry Editor > Run as administrator.
  2. Find the following registry key:
    For FineReader PDF 16
     HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FineReaderPDF.Viewer16\Shell\open\command
    For FineReader PDF 15 HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FineReaderPDF.Application\Shell\open\command
  3. Right-click on (Default) and select Modify.
  4. The value should be as follows:
    For FineReader PDF 16: "C:\Program Files\ABBYY FineReader 16\FineReader.exe" "%1"
    For FineReader PDF 15: "C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader 15\FineReader.exe" "%1"
  5. Add /nosplash to value data:
  6. Click OK.

Note: The splash screen will be displayed for other integration commands in the context menu, e.g. Edit with FineReader PDF.
