How to uninstall CodeMeter installed as part of FineReader Server 14

Question

How to uninstall CodeMeter in Windows if it is not needed?

Answer

CodeMeter is used for the ABBYY products licensing services if the WIBU dongle keys with a license file are used for protection. In case if software protection is used, the CodeMeter can be uninstalled.

To uninstall the CodeMeter follow these steps:

  1. Open the Add/Remove Programs dialog of the Control Panel.
  2. In the list, you will find CodeMeter Runtime Kit.
  3. Select it and click Remove.

If the CodeMeter Runtime Kit cannot be found in the list of installed programs, you can follow the steps described in this article: How to delete CodeMeter in Windows if it can not be found in the list of installed applications?

I followed these steps to remove CodeMeter 6.60.
Afterwards the FineReader Server 14.0.3.416 was unable to connect to the local processing station, with the following error msg:

"ABBYY FineReader Server 14 reported an error: Failed to retreive default OCR Station configuration. Unable to perform RPC call. Server is not available."
