How to create a data set with Excel table as a source


How to create a data set inside FlexiCapture 12 with an Excel table as a source.


To do that follow the next steps:

  1. Select needed data > Right-click > Define Name > Enter table name > Save and close your Excel file. Please check the screenshot below:
  2. Then open Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Administrative Tools > ODBC Data Source (64-bit) and follow the steps from the screenshot below:
  3. Then go to the Document Definition editor > Properties > Data Sets.
  4. Open needed data set. 
  5. Select Source: Database.
  6. Specify connection string:
    1. Provider: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers.
    2. Open the Connection tab.
    3. Select the User data source name: Excel Files.
    4. Enter the initial catalog to use: select your Excel workbook from the dropdown.
  7. Select the database table:
