Creation of IMAP/POP3 profile from Gmail failed with error: Unable to authenticate on IMAP/POP3 server

Symptoms

During the creation of IMAP/POP3 import Gmail profile after clicking the Browse... button the following errors may occur:

Unable to authenticate on IMAP server: [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure).
Unable to authenticate on POP3 server: [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure).

Cause

It may happen because Gmail servers are blocking FlexiCapture 12 connection attempts.

Resolution

  1. Check if the usage protocol (IMAP or POP3) is enabled in Gmail settings:

  2. Check if Less secure app access option is turned on in the Security section of your Google Account Settings:

  3. Make sure that the SSL type of encrypted connection has been chosen in the import profile Settings:
