Question
FineReader PDF 15 does not recognize a Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner. How to use the scanner with FineReader PDF 15?
Answer
Scanning with a ScanSnap scanner directly in FineReader PDF 15 is not supported due to specific ScanSnap scanner drivers.
However, there is a way to scan documents using ScanSnap Manager with the subsequent sending them to the PDF-Editor or OCR-Editor of FineReader PDF 15. Please follow the steps below:
- Start ScanSnap Manager > go to the system tray and right-click the ScanSnap button
- Select Scan Button Settings;
- Uncheck the option Use Quick Menu in the top left corner of the ScanSnap Manager window;
- Create a profile or select an existing one;
- Open the Application tab;
- Click on Add or Remove... button > Add;
- Click the Browse... button in the opened window > specify the application path
(C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader 15\FineReader.exe or FineReaderOCR.exe) > click Open; - Write the application name (e.g. FineReader PDF 15);
- Click OK;
- Select FineReader PDF 15 in the drop-down menu of the Application tab;
- Click Apply button.
- Scan a document with the profile by pressing the Scan button on your ScanSnap scanner.
The document will be scanned and opened in the PDF-Editor (if on step 7 you specified the path C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader 15\FineReader.exe) or in the OCR-Editor (if you specified the path C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader 15\FineReaderOCR.exe).
