The filename or extension is too long

When trying to convert a batch of files from the a folder (via Explorer context menu), the following error occurs:

The filename or extension is too long.

The error may be caused by the specific symbols in the filename or the filename length (with the path) of the processed file.

To solve the issue check the filenames and try to upload to FineReader images by parts (100 at once). Also, try to use the OCR Editor for file processing.

If processing files by parts is unacceptable, please do the following:

  1. Create a folder with a short name in the root folder of your local drive (for example D:\scan);
  2. Rename your input documents to short filenames (for example 001.jpg, 002.jpg... 800.jpg);
  3. Process all the files with FineReader.
