Headings are not defined correctly in the table of contents in FineReader

Question

Why are headings not recognized as headings (and are not displayed correctly in the table of contents) in FineReader? Which tags does FineReader use to define headings during recognition/ conversion?

Answer

FineReader defines headings and creates a table of contents according to its own algorithms. The program estimates the structure of the document, the size, and the formatting of the heading and compares it to the main text. Then, if the heading is detected as heading, it will be displayed correctly in the table of content.
