Reducing the size of the PDF document in FineReader PDF

How to reduce the size of the PDF document in FineReader PDF?

Answer

PDF documents that contain page images or a lot of pictures can be very large. It is possible to reduce the size of such documents in PDF Editor. Please follow the next steps: 

  1. Launch FineReader PDF and open the needed document in PDF Editor.
  2. For FineReader PDF 16: Go to the main menu and select File > Reduce File Size....
    For FineReader PDF 15: Go to File > Reduce File Size....
  3. In the dialogue box that opens, the following options are available:
    • Image quality - Select this option if it is required to reduce the size of the file by lowering the quality of the pictures inside the document.
    • Use MRC compression (specify OCR languages below) - Select this option if MRC compression algorithm should be applied to recognized pages, which considerably reduces file size while preserving the page images' visual quality.
    • OCR languages - Check the selected OCR language(s).
  4. Click Apply.

The compressed PDF document will be opened in a new window.
