Issue
The following error occurs during the installation of FineReader:
Some installation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation.
Cause
The issue may occur due to some corrupted files of the program on this machine. Usually, this is caused by antivirus or other third-party software operation.
Resolution
In order to resolve the issue and reinstall the program, please follow the steps below:
1. Uninstall the program using standard Windows methods (Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features).
2. Delete the following folders:
- C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\FineReader\<edition>;
- C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\ABBYY\FineReader\<edition>;
- C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\<edition>;
- C:\temp\FR<edition>;
- C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader <edition>.
Note: the Program Data folder may be hidden. To show hidden folders, consult the following link: Show hidden files.
3. Disable antivirus software installed on your computer.
5. Start the installation process by right-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Run as administrator.
6. Enable antivirus software.
To prevent the repeating of the error in the future we recommend adding the following ABBYY FineReader folders to the exceptions folder of antivirus software installed on your computer:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader <edition>.
- C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\FineReader\<edition>;
- C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\ABBYY\FineReader\<edition>;
- C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\<edition>;
- C:\temp\FR<edition>.
In case the error message still occurs please try to follow the instruction below:
1. Uninstall the product using standard Windows methods (Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features). Delete the following folders on the workstation if they exist:

- C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\FineReader\<edition>;
- C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\ABBYY\FineReader\<edition>;
- C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\<edition>;
- C:\temp\FR<edition>;
- C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader <edition>.

2. Delete the left traces of the program as described below:
- Restart Windows and log on as an administrator.
- Create Uninst folder on drive C:\.
- Download MsiZap.zip file attached to this article.
- Unpack MsiZap.zip to the newly created C:\Uninst\ folder.
- Press Windows + R buttons. Run window will open.
- Copy the following line to the Open field:
For ABBYY FineReader PDF 15:
C:\Uninst\MSIZap.exe TW! {F15000FE-0001-0000-0000-074957833700} - for 32-bit systems
C:\Uninst\MSIZap.exe TW! {F15000FE-0001-6400-0000-074957833700} - for 64-bit systems
For ABBYY FineReader 14:
C:\Uninst\MSIZap.exe TW! {F14000FE-0001-6400-0000-074957833700} - for 64-bit OS,
C:\Uninst\MSIZap.exe TW! {F14000FE-0001-0000-0000-074957833700} - for 32-bit OS
- Press Enter and wait until all the tracks of ABBYY FineReader are removed from your computer.
- Restart your computer.
3. Please temporarily switch off any third-party software like antivirus software and registry cleaners including Windows Defender and try to install the program again on the workstation as administrator.

well the start sequence gets overwritten by bing - so start sequence is stopped by Microsoft

Thanks. Deleting the folders in step 2 did the trick for me.
