How can I transfer my dictionaries from an earlier version of FineReader to FineReader PDF 15?
Answer
To export the dictionaries from FineReader, do the following:
- Run FineReader OCR Editor;
- Open any document;
- Go to Tools > View Dictionaries;
- Select the necessary dictionary, double-click it, select Export;
- Save the dictionary to the necessary directory.
Alternatively: copy the dictionaries directly from the folder:
C:\Users\%localuser%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\15.00\UserDictionaries - for FineReader 15;
C:\Users\%localuser%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\14.00\UserDictionaries - for FineReader 14;
C:\Users\%localuser%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\12.00\UserDictionaries - for FineReader 12;
Please note, AppData folder may be hidden.
To import the dictionaries to FineReader PDF 15:
- Run the program;
- Open any document in OCR Editor;
- Go to Tools > View Dictionaries;
- Select corresponding language (e.g. English for English dictionary), double click on it, and select Import;
- Select the dictionaries, which were exported.
Alternatively: paste the dictionaries directly to the directory:
C:\Users\%localuser%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\15.00\FineReaderShell\UserDictionaries - for FineReader 15;
C:\Users\%localuser%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader\14.00\FineReaderShell\UserDictionaries - for FineReader 14.

Also, how do I get ABBYY 15 standard to treat all text as text and not images for better Chinese OCR
of english-chinese text ?
It converts of lot of chinese text into images instead of ocr into chinese text
