How to change the connection protocol to TCP/IP if FineReader PDF is already installed on the workstations

Question

How to change the connection protocol to TCP/IP if FineReader PDF is already installed on the workstations?

Answer

It is necessary to perform the repair of FineReader PDF on the workstations after following the steps below:

  1. Specify the protocol and port according to the instructions from the System Administrator's Guide.
    [Licensing]
    NetworkServer=yes
    ConnectionProtocolType=TCP\IP
    ConnectionEndpointName=81
  2. Copy the updated Licensing.ini file to the License Manager folder on all the computers where the License Manager is installed (by default, the License Manager is installed to %programfiles%\ABBYY FineReader 16 License Server).

    Note: For the changes to take effect, the ABBYY FineReader PDF Licensing Service must be restarted.

  3. Copy the updated Licensing.ini file to the administrative installation folder (e.g. C:\AdminPoint\Bin\ABBYY FineReader 16).
    AdminPoint is the administrative installation folder.
    ABBYY FineReader 16 is the subfolder containing the FineReader.exe executable file.
    The Licensing.ini file should be copied to the ABBYY FineReader 16 subfolder.
  4. Run the Repair on all the workstations: Repairing FineReader PDF.
  5. The next time FineReader PDF is started, it will contact the License Server using the protocol specified in the *.ini file.
