Cannot run ABBYY FineReader. There are no valid licenses on the license server

Symptoms

The following error appears on a workstation:

Cannot run ABBYY FineReader <version>. There are no valid licenses on the license server. Please contact your system administrator for assistance.

Cause

The shared folder with the administrative installation point is password protected or you need to change the protocol from Named Pipes (default) to TCP/IP.

Resolution

The user must be configured to access the server without authorization. Full read and write access to the shared folder is required.

Check if the computer with the License Server is accessible from the workstation:

  1. Open Windows Explorer window on a workstation (“Windows +E” on keyboard);
  2. Type \\SERVERNAME in the address bar and press Enter. Then try to open your shared folder with the administrative installation point.
  3. Remove a password if it is requested to open the shared folder.
  4. If the folder is accessible then you need to change the protocol from Named Pipes (default) to TCP/IP.
