According to Specifications for FineReader PDF for Mac®, it is not compatible with macOS High Sierra. If you update your macOS to Catalina or higher, the program should work properly.

You can use the previous version ABBYY FineReader Pro for Mac for macOS Sierra, it is compatible with the following OS: 

Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite, Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan, macOS 10.12 Sierra, macOS 10.13 High Sierra (see more: FineReader Pro for Mac Specifications).
