When opening document in FineReader the error occurs: "The system cannot find the file specified"


When opening a file in FineReader PDF 15 you get the error message:

The system cannot find the file specified.


The situation may be caused by some third-party software affecting the work of FineReader PDF 15. 


Please repair FineReader PDF 15 (via Control Panel > Programs and Features) or reinstall the program.

The distribution kit of the latest version of the application is available for download by the following link: Download FineReader PDF 15.
We recommend switching off any third-party software (registry cleaners, antivirus software) during downloading the distribution kit and installation.

In order to prevent the issue, pleas add these folders to exceptions of antivirus software and CCleaner:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader 15;
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ABBYY;
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\ABBYY;
  • C:\Program Files\ABBYY FineReader 15;
  • C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\FineReader; 
  • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\ABBYY\FineReader;
  • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\ABBYY\FineReader.
