Erase tool does not fill in the selected area with white

Question

How is the Erase tool in FineReader PDF 15 designed to work?

Answer

The Erase tool in the PDF Editor deletes the selected part of an image in a document, automatically selecting the appropriate background color to fill in the empty space.

For example, a selected part of an image you need to erase is in dark blue color as in the screenshot:

mceclip0.png

It will be erased and filled in with the dark blue color as illustrated below:

mceclip1.png

The Eraser tool in the OCR Editor erases the part of an image with the same principle by selecting the appropriate background color to fill in the empty space.

I am finding that the erase tool leaves a smudge instead of being clear white. How can I prevent that? I am trying to clear up "lines" along the edge that came from a scan and I am ending up with a light smudge instead.

    Thanks,

    Gene

    Hi Eugene,

Please try to select the area with more white color inside. If this does not help, then it is better for you to send us a file and we can try to check it on our side. For this, please create a support ticket: https://support.abbyy.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
