End of Support for Basic Authentication for Microsoft Exchange Online

Dear Customer,

Effective October 1, 2022, Microsoft will disable Basic authentication for Outlook, EWS, RPS, POP, IMAP, and EAS protocols in Exchange Online.

If you’re using Basic authentication in your FlexiCapture 12 “Image Import Profiles” setup with the mentioned protocols, it may fail with errors on or after October 1, 2022.

To avoid this, we advise switching your current “Image Import Profile” from IMAP to MS Graph as described in this ABBYY article: Importing images using Microsoft Graph Mail API.

For FlexiCapture on-prem installations
ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 Release 4 Update 2 Patch 1 will introduce support for OAuth2 for IMAP import, which will allow you to switch back to IMAP protocol.

For FlexiCapture Cloud
The update to FlexiCapture 12 Release 4 Update 2 will introduce support for OAuth2 for IMAP import, which will allow you to switch back to IMAP protocol. ABBYY will inform you of this update.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your ABBYY representative or raise a ticket with the ABBYY Support Team via webform here.

Best Regards,
ABBYY Team

    @...,

We're doing our best to release the patch by the beginning of October.
We'll update this article accordingly, so I'd recommend following it.

Has this patch been released as this change goes into effect Oct1st. Can we please have the patch ahead of that date as the imports may stop at several of our clients.

    Hey,

Does this change affect basic connection with Exchange for other purposes.

I'm trying to connect via SMTP my flexicapture and I just can't do it. So my flexicapture is not sending any email notifications.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Pelayo,

According to Microsoft (Deprecation of Basic authentication in Exchange Online), the basic authentication for SMTP is still supported but is disabled by default, so your Exchange administrator needs to enable it on the Exchange side.

why you still have this release 4.812 if it has big issues with IMAP and MS Graph?

you have this issue as know more than 2 weeks and still do not inform users about consequences of this release?

E:\TfsBuildAgent\_work\1\s\Build\FlexiCapture\Controller\Enterprise\EnterpriseServerStdObjects.cpp, 463 after FlexiCapture upgrade to 12.0.4.812 version
