In a case where the Postgres Database should be installed on a different server than the Process Intelligence servers, can a cluster of Postgres Databases be used?

Yes. This is out of scope with ABBYY Timeline. The connection string is what matters for the product. The Timeline doesn’t distinguish whether the Database is a single-node or multi-node cluster.
