I am disappointed that where every document processing tool provides some way to process documents in batch, there is nothing available in Abbyy.
Abbyy has an extremely precise OCR technology, and I have found that to be better than even Adobe Acrobat however lack of some of the basic capabilities makes it a second-class tool. Here are my issues:
- OSX version is just an OCR wrapper but not a full-fledged PDF editor. In Abbyy's defense, they don't claim it to be one.
- No integration with Apple Automator or Shortcuts
- No native batch processing
- No command line
- PDF Redact support
If Abbyy at least provides a command line, then some of the other toolchains can be built, but I don't understand why it is taking so much time.
To fill this gap, I tried wondershare PDF element, which has Abbyy Engine, but their HTML output is nowhere near as good as Abbyy Finereader.

Hello Sachin Walia,
Thank you for your feedback. We continue to develop the Mac version of FineReader PDF, and more features will be added in it in the future.
Just for the other readers of the Community pages who may see your feedback, let me clarify here that it's true for ABBYY FineReader PDF for Mac. As regards to FineReader PDF 16 for Windows, it has all features that you mentioned, or their Windows analogues.
Best regards,
Yuriy
