Thank you for your message and for the provided screenshot. As I see, you tried to use the virtual machine with the old license, which has already expired.
You can always download the latest version of the virtual machine and an actual license file using the link provided in every FlexiCapture course materials in https://university-catalog.abbyy.com/. You should go to the first lesson description or use the "Credentials and VM Installation" file.
The training VM and the actual license is available for students during the whole learning process.

I was actually following the steps like you mentioned. I downloaded the license using the link provided in the Credentials and VM Installation PDF provided in the introduction part of a course.

We update training licenses regularly. Could you please check the virtual machine folder using the link in the course again (please see the screenshot below)? You will find an actual license file in the FC12_License file subfolder.

Hi Kathy, I tried using the license from the FC12_License folder and it turned out to be the same as the one I used previously.
It does show that the license is valid till 31st march 2023

Just wanted to know what should I put in the license number field.

We activate the license by providing the license file. You do not need to put the license number during the activation.
If the general process of navigating to the license file doesn't work for you, we need additional information from you. So, we will continue our communication via the support ticket. Please raise a ticket using the link: https://support.abbyy.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000821499.
Please add the screenshot of the License Manager to the ticket.
