Issues with FineReader 15 OCR Accuracy on Handwritten Documents

Hello,

I am facing difficulties achieving optimal OCR accuracy when digitizing a substantial collection of late 19th-century handwritten documents using ABBYY FineReader 15. Despite employing a high-resolution scanner and experimenting with various OCR settings, the software consistently misinterprets numerous handwritten characters.

These documents are composed of cursive script and often exhibit faded ink, presenting a significant challenge for OCR technology. I am seeking expert advice on overcoming these hurdles.

I also check this: https://support.abbyy.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360010425820-Not-allowed-to-use-ABBYY-api-from-the-localhost-duemendix But I have not found any solution for this. I would appreciate insights into effective OCR techniques for such materials. Are there specific settings or preprocessing steps that have yielded successful results in your experience? Additionally, I am curious about other ABBYY tools or features that might enhance the recognition of handwritten text.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Your expertise in this area would be invaluable to my project.

Sincerely,

Hi Olivia! Desktop ABBYY FineReader PDF 15 doesn't support recognition of handwritten text (ICR). For that, I'd recommend you to take a look at ABBYY Vantage. If you want to explore in details how to solve your task with Vantage, feel free to contact with our Vantage experts by filling in the request form on the web page.

    Best regards,

    Yuriy
