Hello!
I'm OCRing some old newspapers printed in Serbian Cyrillic. It does not have full dictionary support, and I would like to install one. However, I don't know where to start. I tried searching the Internet for usable dictionaries, but with no success. Is there an online resource for custom dictionaries where I could download one?
I see an option to use Microsoft Word's Language Support Dictionaries (I have the support for Serbian Cyrillic already installed), but it seems it can't find it.
Thanks in advance!

Hello Michael!
Unfortunately, we don't have additional dictionaries that could be downloaded and added to FineReader PDF. All the dictionaries that we have for FineReader are built into it.
The capability of using Microsoft Word dictionaries that you refer to is actually using of custom dictionaries from MS Word in FineReader, not built-in dictionaries from Word. Also, you can create and connect user dictionaries. How to connect custom Word dictionaries and add user dictionaries: https://help.abbyy.com/en-us/finereader/16/user_guide/addwordtodictionary/.
If you have a suitable third-party dictionary for Serbian (FineReader supports them in .txt or .dic formats), you can also create a user language based on Serbian Cyrillic and add that dictionary to the user language: https://help.abbyy.com/en-us/finereader/16/user_guide/createcustlang/.
Best regards,
Yuriy
Hi Yuriy!
First of all, thank you for the quick and comprehensive answer!
When you say suitable third-party dictionary, do you have an example how such a dictionary should be formatted so I can create my own?
I assume they have to have a specific layout, not just a plain list of words.
Thanks in advance!
