XEROX DOCUMATE 6440 Answered

I used to run the Finereader that was bundled with the above scanner. Having changed computers I now have the job of reinstalling my FR. The scanner works fine with the standard Xerox install but I'm trying to use FR v16. Got it from Abbyy support but no surprise it is asking me for a license.

When I last tried this in February Abbyy replied
"The Xerox application downloads software (firmware) from their server, it is connecting ScannerModel/Serial Number to FineReader Serial number."

This is suggesting plug n play of course but nothing of the kind happened. Can anyone suggest how I can retrieve a version of FR from either Xerox or Abbyy? I'm awaiting a reply from Abbyy Support
