Hello
I bought ABBYY Finereader 16 Standard in order to scan a 500 page Portuguese book for my private use. The scans are 300 DPI TIF with very good sharpness and contrast. 

I have set the language to Portuguese and the quality to Thorough.

In Verify mode, am noticing that ABBYY struggles to correctly identify very basic Portuguese characters which are clearly recognizable in the TIF. 

Is this normal?

Is there any way to improve the recognition rate?
