I have a potential customer who wants to buy one seat of Flexicapture and run all of this on one workstation so that people can walk up and do scanning, indexing, and verifying. He may add extra scanning and verifying stations as well but has a question. He wants to know if nobody is using the scanning station on the main walk-up station can he install another scanning station somewhere and use that single license for scanning? I have already told him no, the licensing for the extra scanning/verifying station would need to activated when he did the installation on that remote workstation and he would not be able to reuse that license from the server. He would require a new license with proper access (scan, verify, and possibly index). Is this correct? I left a message for Morris Garcia but did not yet hear back from him.

Because we are talking stations, I assume this will be FC Distributed Edition with default configuration (1 of each station).
FC Standalone licensing is simply per computer (with option to temporarily move USB Key from computer to computer). If your question is about FC Standalone, then the answer is NO* with a single license, they will need to have two software key licenses.
(*or at least physically move the single USB Key from machine to machine, which has associated inconveniences)
In Distributed Edition stations are concurrent, which means that if a station is not used one one machine, it can be used on another machine connected to one same server.
So to your question: "He wants to know if nobody is using the scanning station on the main walk-up station can he install another scanning station somewhere and use that single license for scanning?"
The answer is YES he can. You will have Distributed Edition (all stations) installed on the main computer, and Scan Station component can be installed on a second computer. Given you have a single "seat" of Scan Station in your license, one one computer can run it at any given time.

RS should behave in the same way as the FC Distributed. Stations are 'concurrent' and can be used from remote machines when connect to the server. So I say YES they can use Scan Station on a second computer when it is not open on the first computer.

This question you should discuss with your sales manager.
